Merrill
Kagan-Weston
President/Estimator/Job Planner
In the summer of 1975, I was a junior at Philadelphia College
of Art, majoring in printmaking, and I got a job in a small
print shop near my apartment. After thirty years, 3,000 miles
and many hats, it's still the only business I want to be in! |

Brad
Weston
Vice President/General Manager
I have been in the printing business for more than 32 years. With the summer off before college and my surfboard under my arm, I was ready for a good time. But within one week, my brother-in-law asked me to make deliveries and work in bindery for his shop. The rest is history. I have been a pressman, salesman, bindery operator, film stripper and platemaker. After 20 years of owning Auburn Printers, I am still excited to come to work each day. The changes and challenges of our industry keep me excited about what I do. |

Jeff
Peres Production Manager
I started with Brad and Merrill in 1987, barely out of high
school. We were a stationery printer back then, and my first
job was to sweep floors and cut business cards. I soon learned
how to run a small press and eventually worked up to a 25"
Heidelberg. After running large presses for 10 years, I moved
into production management and became the maintenance manager
for all the equipment and the building. In my spare time I
enjoy building custom hot rods and this hobby keeps my mechanical
skills up to par, which helps me keep our press and bindery
equipment running smoothly. I am a hands-on manager and work
well side by side with my production employees to ensure that
we put out the best product possible. |

Kelley Buxton
Operations Manager
I was born and raised a printer… while others had paper routes, I was making scratch pads, collating or gluing the tabs on presentation folders. So it was only fitting I would continue my roots and join the fabulous world of printing. I have worked for several Sacramento printers and worn numerous hats, including bindery, mailing, customer service, production planning and inside sales. After taking a hiatus to raise my son and obtain a bachelor’s degree in business management, I am thrilled to say I am back in printing and LOVING IT!

Lyle
Westoby Sales
I have been in the printing business so long, it has been
rumored that I apprenticed for Gutenberg. While that rumor
is false, I do have more than 50 years of print experience.
I even tried to retire a few years ago, but I am so involved
with the industry I just couldnt stay away! When I am
not working at Auburn Printers, I enjoy working on things
around the house and yard, and just keeping my hands busy. |

Steven Reynolds Sales
I always knew I wanted to be a printer. At the young age of 13, I swept floors at my home-town Idaho newspaper. After a stint in the Army as a printer, a silk-screener in Germany and 14 years with an offset shop in San Francisco I moved to the foothills to raise my family. I started North Star Printing in Grass Valley and provided high-quality printing to local companies for 18 years. After all this time printing is still my passion. My other passion is food (I guess you can call me “foodie”) and as a member of a local food coalition in Nevada County, I work to support local farmers for sustainable agriculture. Eat local! |

Ellen Bandula Accounts Representative
I have been in the printing industry for 437 hours. Don't let my vast experience intimidate you.
Actually, I've been in sales in one form or another since college. I've sold everything from make-up to money to drugs (the legal kind that is, as in Pharmaceuticals), but printing is new. I spent the last 4 years home with my son and now that he is in school, I am ready for something that does not involve wiping: counters, noses, bottoms. I thought about going back to Pharma but found... A sales job in Auburn? With no travel? Actually selling something tangible?
Yes, please. |

Ann
Moore Prepress Supervisor
I started out in the graphics trade industry 25 years ago
as a bookkeeper and driver. I moved my way up the ladder learning
different aspects of the trade. Later, I was hired as a stripper
at another print shop. When the trade started becoming more
digital-oriented, I quickly realized that I better learn how
to turn a computer on if I wanted to stay in this industry.
I am glad I did, because stripping is becoming a thing of
the past. This industry changes daily, which keeps me on my
toes and out of trouble. |

Jordan Hickok Digital Press Guru
I started working for Auburn Printers in April of 2006. I had recently moved to Auburn from Minneapolis, Mn and i needed a job fast. They hired me on as a full time driver. After a year, I moved inside to work in prepress. After 6 months of prepress, I moved into the press room to run a small Heidelberg 2 color printing press. That lasted 4 months until they needed me back in prepress. Now I am running a digital press and am in charge of creating variable data files and printing them as well. |

Donna Carver Accounting/Human Resources
I’ve worked in accounting departments for a few companies since 1974. The first company I worked for was Carpenter/Offut Paper in South San Francisco, where I stayed for seven years. I totally flunked their math test, but the Personnel Manager liked me, so I got the job. Numbers seem to be my game, although I had no idea when I started in 1974. The experience I’ve gained over the years working for some real characters has paid off. I started working for Auburn Printers in August of 2006 and really feel like I’m at home. It is great to finally be appreciated for what I do. My passion is riding on the back of the Harley that my husband and I own. I can be in the worst mood, get on the Harley, go for a ride, and all is good.

Prince
Perfect Inspirational Liaison
I was born from the somewhat creative mind of Brad Weston
as the icon of Auburn Printers. Once created and mounted on
the wall overlooking the front office, all I needed was a
name. Again, Brad's somewhat creative mind said, "Let's
have a contest to give him a name." Sparing no expense,
a contest began, with the winner getting a weekend in San
Francisco. Well, to say the least, I was anxiously waiting
for my name. After several weeks, it came down to 6 finalists:
"Extraordinhare," "Hop Tuit," "Rabbit
formally known as Prints," "Prints Charming,"
"Peter Pantone" and "Prince Perfect."
All the employees voted, and thanks to Cheryl Maki, the winner
of the contest, I have a name. |
